Aaaand I'm back!

  • Nov. 21st, 2009 at 9:06 PM

I can't believe I have internet again! I didn't realise just how much I would miss it while it was gone. I don't have a lot of time to type about it, but basically a bit over a month ago (1 month and 1 week as of tomorrow) my dorm was hit by lightning. Got to hear the raindrops crackle and everything. And it knocked out the internet here. It's been excruciating without it. Couldn't talk to Lexi, couldn't play anything online, check anything out, or even check out my homework (as it is all posted online) But as of today my computer is back on! Turns out not only did it kill the connection but it also knocked out my ethernet card to my computer. My poor poor compy... But luckily we managed to get a usb adapter so that I can surf the net once again!

I'm back baby!

Whew... schooltime update.

  • Nov. 4th, 2009 at 6:59 PM

A lot has gone on these last few weeks. I guess first and foremost I don't really have a job anymore. Corporate apparently came down and told my boss that he was using too many hours and he had to start cutting them. Two people got laid off right off the bat, I was kept around for another week with my hours cut to 15 a week. Then sadly they came and told him that was even too much. So he had to just stop putting me on the schedule. With only one person opening and one person closing they were apparently still 2-400 dollars over budget. So I have no idea how that went.

As much as I hate to admit it though, it was probably for the best. I don't think I could have kept up with my school and work at the same time right now. It's gotten excessively hectic. And I can say that in complete honesty. Though I feel kinda bad about not having a job since my folks are basically paying my way at the moment. Hopefully soon I can try and get a job on campus, I hear they pay well.

So anyway, back to the school stuff. Just since this last Friday (today is Wednesday) I've had a lot to do. Friday we fiiiinally started filming for a film project we had in my rtvf class (radio television film). We've had three weeks to do this project, but my partner and the people she was bringing along bailed time and time again. More than once I was actually down there picking up the camera when she said she didn't have anyone to show up and canceled. And this counted for 30% of the section grade alone. So anyways, we finally got to filming that. Filmed from about 3-5:30 and spent an hour editing the film before they kicked us out to close the lab. The next day we filmed from 10 AM to 4PM straight through, managing to finish up all the filming (though at a rather stressful pace) Then edited till about 6:30 when I had to go pick up Fangy's check for him and drive back to my home town so he could pay rent. (Which he then apparently didn't need. But it was okay, I was wanting to spend some time with my folks) The next day we edited from about 12-8 or something obnoxiously long. Then I remembered I had Japanese homework and an English paper I hadn't done xp. So I rushed home and had to just copy the answers from online because I didn't have the time to do it myself (which I am not happy about because I really want to learn it) then Monday when I hadn't mannaged to finish the paper I skipped that class and went to work on another editing project I had in the same RTVF class for a few hours and studied for both a Japanese test and my final for Film. Then yesterday (Tuesday) we spent from about 3-8 putting in all the sounds and music to the film and finalizing the second project. Then I had to stay up to finish that English paper I had not been able to finish at about 12:30. Then I had to be up by 7am for my rtvf class where I had to take the final, shortly followed by us presenting our films (talk about a stressful class). And then 2 hours later I had a Japanese test I had not had time to study for over the weekend.

Aaaand now I'm working on an essay in Japanese that is due tomorrow. Directly after which I have to help Lexi with some sprites for her game development class tomorrow xp

And that's been the general norm the last month or so. Basically... I'm a freakin exhausted dragon x.=.x; so exhausted that I'm going to talk in third person and refer to myself as a dragon... ;p

I could really use a good night's rest... But none of that tonight! Maybe tomorrow.
(also managed to finally finish and post a comic up this last Monday. Woo!)

Long Time No See!

Oi, it's been forever since I posted here. Been really wanting to, but I haven't had the time. Seriously.

As of today I've been in my classes this semester for exactly one month. And man has it been a busy month. Right now I'm taking English, Japanese (funny to be taking those together) Geology (Needed a physical science and dad suggested it) and RTVF 2210! I'm really psyched to be taking my RTVF class finally! Couldn't get in last year because all the classes filled up the first day. It's just that freakin competitive here. In fact anyone who doesn't show up the first day of class is automatically dropped and other hopefuls who show up can take their spot. Pretty crazy. Luckily I managed to take my first two pre-reques during the summer. The first one was maymester, first time I'd ever done that. 14 weeks of class crammed into 3! Yeesh. Exam every week and a paper worth 1/4 of my grade.

Anyways, back to this semester, been goin great! I've been really impressed with myself. Been really crackin down and kickin butt! Well at least till this week. Boss had me scheduled all weekend and it really threw me off on studies. But that just makes my RTVF project that much more awesome hehe. My class is divided into 3 sections this year. The first 1/3 of the semester I'm focussing on audio editing, then television, then film. And we're actually having to do projects! Woo! Hands on baby, that's what I'm good at! Looks like this year I'm starting my portfolio! hehe. So anyway, the project was to basically to a radio commercial. Only had to be 30 seconds, voiced prodominately by me, have music, and one sound effect. Though I ended up going with a 60 second movie spot instead. A bit more work, but much more fun for me. I did a movie trailer for Stranger Things, hehe. It was loads of fun.

Well the rough copy was due by Monday to let the class do peer evaluations and give help. Sadly the lab is only open certain hours. So I got to work all of 3 hours between Thursday and Friday, then had 3 hours on Saturday before I had to get to work. And that was it! Because of my hours I was working right on top of the hours the lab was open. but believe it or not, I managed to finish it. not a rough draft, finish it! Muaha! Yeah I really worked my butt off on that. Did voice effects for the narrator voice, spliced music together (using a couple of songs instead of one) recorded dialogue for multiple characters, scoured the net for sound effects of monsters and guns and all that fun stuff. I even got Lexi to record a few lines of dialogue for me. She may not be the best voice actor ever, but she really tried and I love her for it ;3 <3

So anyways, I was the first to offer to present on Monday and the prof was really impressed, especially when I said I'd never even attempted something like this before. Said stuff like "it's really freakin strong" and "Fantastic" (And yes I'm just that lame that I wanna remember that praise for my first RTVF project ;P) They gave a few nitpicks here and there that could be used to improve it (which I thought was awesome that they had to try so hard to find stuff) But he said I had all I really needed and that I went "above and beyond anything required for this class" Which was a real booster ^.=.^

So anyways, I just had a bit of time to spare and wanted to jot down an update here before I got back to doin stuff. Gotta help Alex with another of her projects, drawing sprites and such. And I still have to catch up on my Japanese studies. but before that, Red Faction 3 baby! Ooooh it's so awesome! And Dissidia's pretty fun too ;3 But maybe I'll talk more about those some other time. Till then!

Laterz!

It has begun!

Well it's been forever since I've actually added anything to this journal thing, kinda defeats the point eh? hehe. Well since I just started up school again and I've moved into a dorm I think I'll go ahead and try to keep a journal going this time. Since I know my mind sucks at remembering old details. So I just moved in this last Sunday (Aug 23 09) And I gotta say it's a really nice room. Very nicely compacted with place for everything. After moving out from the apartment Steelfang and I shared it's incredibly small. My whole living space is smaller than my room alone over there, hehe. But I think I kinda like it. It's really all I need. And got a meal plan so I dont have to spend so much money every month on food; It's all in the dorms around here, hehe. Plus I'm way closer to my work. So now I can leave the same time I always left for it from the apartment and actually make it in on time ;3 *cough* you didnt hear that though <.=.< >.=.>

Anyways, I have work in just a few minutes, so very short update. I'm gonna try and post more tonight or tomorrow, hopefully stick some pics up as well.

Just a side note, this journal is really for me for the sake of remembering and remeniscing in the future, not really directed at anyone. I just like the idea of it being posted somewhere I can access anywhere at any time. But anyone who wants to pop on by and check it out is more than free to do so. Laters!

And So It Begins...

  • May. 17th, 2008 at 3:17 PM

Well it's finally happened. After so many years of constantly making fun of this sort of online community culture I've finally been drawn in to it. Though I have always wanted to keep a journal, I've always thought online blogging seemed silly, oh well.xP two days ago I even set up my own Facebook to get back in touch with a friend I haven't seen since '99. So I guess it's acceptable ;3

I've actually tried keeping a journal a couple of times before, but I always end up getting side tracked from it. Maybe having one online will be easier to get motivated for since it's so much easier to access and keep track of.

For those of you who don't know me (Then why the heck are you reading this? XD) I suppose I'll tell a bit about myself, just for the sake of posterity. My real name is Christopher Ferguson. But online I'm known as Neos, which happens to also be a character of mine. I am an artist, and though I'm not the best in the world, I don't suppose I'm half bad half of the time. (That's 1/4 bad for you people bad at math ;3) I post most of my work up on Deviantart and Furaffinity. I am the sole creator, author, and artist of a little webcomic named "Stranger Things", which is supposed to be weekly, but is lucky to update once a month xp Though within the next month or so I hope to step things up as I finally begin a serious story that I've been planning out for at least two years, though I've forgotten the exact amount of time.

I'm 22, my birthday is December 30th. I'm a lover of many things. I enjoy things ranging from art, to writing, to most things electronic, movies, videogames, and of course spending time with my friends. I have an affinity for fantasy and scifi, particularly spacebattles, ubertech, and midieval settings. And an obvious note that I have a strong fascination with dragons.

Hopefully sometime soon I'll be updating this page layout to be much more personal instead of this one that someone else designed. Maybe someone could tell me how to set up those custom emote thingies for your moods? ;3

Uuuhm... well I guess that's all for now. Hopefully I'll see you guys soon! Take care, and thanks for reading! ^.=.^ <-- I R A Dwagon Rawr! lol
